115 – Getting and Paying for Durable Medical Equipment

Set Of Mobility Aids Including A Wheelchair, Walker, Crutches, Q

Set of mobility aids including a wheelchair, walker, crutches, quad cane, and forearm crutches. Flat illustration. Health care concept.

If you loved one needs durable medical equipment then, if it’s possible, don’t hesitate to get what they need. It may help them maintain or improve their quality of life.

Often Medicare will pay for equipment (it’s a Part B benefit provided your loved one meets the Medicare criteria).  Sometimes they will have to spend money out of their pocket to purchase it.  In some situations you can borrow what they need or buy it used (and then sell it once they no longer need it).  Either way, if they get the supportive equipment they need when they need it then it could help stay as independent as possible for as long as possible.

Listen to this episode to learn more of the benefits of getting the equipment they need when they need it.

Thanks very much for sharing this with me.
